SATURDAY / FEBRUARY 7th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... (doors at 6:15!) Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience.... Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks... also, you can order food from Brickyard Hollow next door & they deliver it to Cadenza! Reservations are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open... staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other... so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! Here's the ticket link. They are still livestreaming these shows... the livestream link is here. Donations during the stream (or anytime!) are always greatly appreciated at:
Pay Pal: PayPal.Me/anniclarkmaine or
Venmo: @Anni-Clark
THURSDAY / MARCH 12th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... We always have a blast here... The food is awesome & affordable & the staff is wicked fun. The list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! And THANKS for remembering the suggested donation for music is $10 pp in "Phil" the tip basket ("Phil" is short for "fill it up please!") Lenny's is closed through February... they are reopening in March under new management, so come on in & help us get the party started!
SUNDAY / APRIL 12th / UNITED PARISH CONCERT SERIES / HARRISON ME / 3PM / 207-583-4840... I am totally psyched for my debut at this well-known concert series in beautiful downtown Harrison ME. Not far from one of my other fave concert venues, The Deertrees Theater (where I recorded my LIVE album in 2004), this Congregational Church on Main has hosted past performers such as Erica Brown (of Darlin' Corey), Jud Caswell, Bruce Marshall, Cindy Kallet & so many more. It was Cindy Kallet, a well-loved longtime Maine performer & songwriter, who recommended me to Nancy Chapman with "high praise" as a possible future performer. BIG thanks to Cindy for connecting me to Nancy! I'll play 2 sets of music starting at 3PM, with a break for refreshments & time to mingle between sets. I hear the acoustics here are just fabulous. Tickets are already selling via this Eventbrite link. Let's celebrate the coming of spring together with songs & camaraderie in this very special spot!
FRIDAY / APRIL 17th / ELEMENTS / BIDDEFORD ME / 6:00 to 7:30PM / 207-710-2011... LOVE this room... a very intimate concert scene. It's a laid back & comfy space... with beer, wine, coffee, yummy baked goods, small plates, LOTS of books & friendly patrons. In lieu of a cover charge, a donations jar is placed near the stage by the Elements staff & there is a VENMO option as well if you have no cash. Bring your appetites & bring your friends... they'll be impressed you know about this cool spot. Always good to get here early... seating is limited.
2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS
January in Maine was wicked cold. (I can say that with conviction... I'm a Maine native.) January 24, 25 & 26 brought challenging weather events. We got a big dump of snow here in coastal southern ME that required skillful shoveling maneuvers... thankfully I am good at this! My heart goes out to so many in other parts of the country who don't usually deal with frigid temps, ice, snow, wind & torrential rains... there are many still without power & really in need of help. I send them hope & light as I write.
My heart also goes out to Minnesota. It matters not to me what side of the aisle you are on... the events unfolding in Minneapolis in recent weeks should unhinge the hearts of all people... not only here in America, but everywhere on this precious planet of ours. Here in the northeast corner of the USA, we Mainers (most of us) are standing with MN, even as ICE tries to intimidate & plant fear in our own towns via their "Operation Catch of the Day". If you are OK with the way ICE is going about their business, I am sorry to say you are no friend of mine. I usually keep my political opinions to myself when writing these blogs, but my conscience knows that silence is not an option. I struggled to begin writing today, as I knew I would feel dishonest by remaining silent about this. I pray for all of us... my baby boomer soul still screams out "peace, love & brotherhood" & my hopes for this will not be stolen away by... anybody. Let us learn from the way MN neighbors are pitching in to help one another during this very scary time. During this time when our inner lights are flickering, may their example of strength & commitment to their ideals & each other help to relight our own individual pilot lights.
In times of stress & uncertainty, each of us needs to turn to those things that nurture the soul. As many of you know, the outdoors is a thing that always I turn to... especially when I need to take a solid break from the pain of observing upsetting events. I took a very long walk a couple days ago on the beach near my home. After digging out from back-to-back snowstorms here, a lengthy stroll by the sea was such a gift:
Old Orchard Beach ME, 1/28/26
Walking toward the OOB Pier, 1/28/26
Besides turning to good friends & family, eating healthy foods & trying hard to get some good sleep, I turn to music to soften my angst. I am grateful to those who are currently churning out songs of poignant protest to wake us up & to unite us in hopes for & our commitment to peace, love & brotherhood. Bruce Springsteen & Jesse Welles come to mind readily. I, too, have written songs of protest in recent months, but I often feel my job as a performer is to soften the angst for people who come out to hear my music. I am working on a set list that I hope will do just that when I take the stage for my first public performance on February 7th at Cadenza. If you missed the ticket link above, here it is again: TICKETS. I was born with the gift of music in me & I have always felt it loses its value if I don't share it. I know I need to sing big time right now... perhaps your sharing in that, maybe even singing along, will aid in reenergizing you. I hope to see many of you there!
Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings... your support means more to me than you can know. Take care of yourselves & each other. I hope I see you at the beach, on the streets &/or at the show.
Peace,
