JULY 2025 & BEYOND!
HOWDY Y'ALL! Finally, some warm summah weather here in Maine (HOT actually)! ALL my shows in July will be outside, if the weather Gods gift us with clear skies. Really psyched to split the night with The Piners at LENNY'S in WESTBROOK on JULY 10th... my annual birthday gig... & Pip Walter's birthday too! Pip, Boo & Haakon are a fabulous trio... can't wait to hear them again after many years. Get there early... this is gonna be a highlight of the summah! The same can be said for my shows at the BIRCHES in ROCKWOOD on JULY 13th & at the PORTLAND HARBOR HOTEL on JULY 18th!

1. TARGET GIGS (Full Details)
THURSDAY / JULY 10th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... This is my annual birthday gig with a big twist! I'm splitting the bill with... drum roll please... THE PINERS! Do you remember the Piners? They began turning a lot of heads with their infectious Country/Americana sound in the mid 90's & had a great run of shows for a decade or so. They've been on a long hiatus, but on their 30th Anniversary the trio decided to get back together to play some tunes. It'll be so much fun to hear Pip Walter, Boo Cowie & Haakon Kaalweit doin' their thing again! Rumor has it that Pip will join me on stage for a couple tunes as well. This July 10th gig is 2 days after my birthday & 3 days after Pip's birthday so we'll have a lot to celebrate! If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll play inside, but we are all hoping for an outside sound fest & a joyous summah celebration. Come early... we expect a big crowd for this one!
(Future solo dates @ Lenny's: Sept 11 & Nov 13)
SUNDAY / JULY 13th / THE BIRCHES / ROCKWOOD ME / 2PM / 207-534-7305... this is such a lovely setting... right on the edge of Moosehead Lake with views of Mount Kineo & the Appalachian Trail corridor. Full bar, great food & yours truly hummin' & strummin' from 2 to 5PM. I'll set up outside on the porch, weather allowing. I always look forward to this annual gig at one of my fave spots. If you want dinner, you should consider making a reservation ahead of time!
FRIDAY / JULY 18th / PORTLAND HARBOR HOTEL / PORTLAND ME / 5PM / 207-300-0142... very pleased I was invited to be part of the rotation of musicians here this summer! If weather allows, I will be outside in the enclosed terrace area, which, in my opinion, feels a bit like being in New Orleans(well, not so much in the winter when they have the ice bar out there.) Come check it out & see if you agree with me. I'll play from 5 to 8... & if need be, I can play inside, so it's a rain or shine show. Hope to see a bunch of you... my 1st show here in June was magical! (My last summer show here is on Aug 8th!)
2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERING
I'm filling up these warmer months with music, mountains, the ocean, friends & family. I wrapped up May with a visit to Southport... & my sis-in-law Mary Lou & I caught Marcia Ball in concert at The Boothbay Opera House. Marcia & her band were on fire! Our seats in the balcony allowed for a few good photo taking opportunities... here's one of my faves:

In June, my concerts at both Sawyer Memorial in Greene & at Cadenza in Freeport brought fine opportunities to connect through music & shared stories. I still smile when I remember spontaneous interactive moments of joy, laughter, shared harmonies & at times, moments of thoughtful reflection. I took this photo of the audience from behind my microphone at Sawyer Memorial:

June 13th was jam packed with fun, friends & music. Started the day with an outdoor lunch hang celebrating 2 of my Saco Middle School colleagues' retirements. Early morning haze gave way to a perfect early summer day just in time for our celebration! So happy for Joan (school nurse) & Lisa (physical ed instructor) on their retirement after many dedicated years working with students who loved them.

I even got to sit in with the Kilcollins Band that day...

Later that same day I met my pal Amy in Portland to catch the Ruthie Foster concert at One Longfellow Square... a perfect spot for an intimate exchange between Ruthie & her adoring audience. What a powerhouse of a performer that woman is! I was unable to get photos here, but her voice & the stories she shared still drift in & out of my consciousness days later. I highly recommend you catch her sometime down the road if you have yet to do that.
And then there was my outdoor show on the terrace at the Portland Harbor Hotel in the Old Port on June 20th... it was a tad breezy that evening, but it didn't keep folks from hanging out with me as my music drifted out into the night like an homage to the summer solstice. Can't wait to get back there on July 18th!
Wherever you are this summer, I hope you remember that music & the outdoors are good medicine! I hope to see many of you... maybe at a show... Lenny's, the Birches or The Portland Harbor Hotel... or maybe on a trail through the woods, on top of a mountain, on the beach, dancin' at "The Swick" in OOB or maybe at the grocery store. Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings... your support means more to me than you can know.
Peace,
