1. TARGET GIGS (Full Details)
THURSDAY / MAY 8th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177… We always have a blast here… The food is awesome & affordable, the staff is wicked fun & really good at what they do… & the list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! And THANKS for remembering the suggested donation for music is $10 pp in "Phil" the tip basket ("Phil" is short for "fill it up please!") Future dates: July 10, Sept 11 & Nov 13)
FRIDAY / JUNE 6th / SAWYER MEMORIAL / GREENE ME / 2 SHOWS at 2PM & 7PM / 207-946-5311… this will be my first time performing here & I can't wait! If you check out their website you‘ll learn that this 200 seat venue was built in 1937 & it is completely nonprofit. There are never any ticket or entry fees of any kind… instead there is an optional donation box for those who are able to give. The Sawyer Foundation's mission is to provide free family friendly educational & entertainment events to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. If you can't be there in person for the show, you can donate anytime.
SATURDAY / JUNE 7th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience…. Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks… also, you can order food from Brickyard Hollow next door & they deliver it to Cadenza! Reservations are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open…
staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other… so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! The ticket link is right HERE. The livestream Link is HERE. Donations during the stream (or anytime!) are always greatly appreciated at:

FRIDAY / JUNE 20th / PORTLAND HARBOR HOTEL / PORTLAND ME / 5PM / 207-300-0142… very pleased I was invited to be part of the rotation of musicians here this summer! If weather allows, I will be outside in the enclosed terrace area, which, in my opinion, feels a bit like being in New Orleans(well, not so much in the winter when they have the ice bar out there.) Come check it out & see if you agree with me… I'll play from 5 to 8… & if need be, I can play inside, so it's a rain or shine show. Hope to see a bunch of you there at my very 1st show in a beautiful spot! (Future dates: July 18 & Aug 8.)
2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS
April had my head & heart spinning… as May approaches, my head, my heart, my dreams, the world… all seem to be spinning too fast & too furiously. So much happening, it's hard to keep up. Talking with friends, family, fellow singer-songwriters… reading posts, blogs & checking news updates (when I think my soul can handle it) I realize I am not alone in feeling this way.
As a performer of more than 45 years now, I have most often chosen to remain politically quiet in the interest of not losing any of my fans should they feel way differently than me about certain topics. (Except, well… yeah… I released my video "I'm With You Greta" in 2019 about climate change… I don't think I lost any concert attendees over that… I may have gained some actually!) BUT… I sure did ramp up a lot of views on YouTube when the climate deniers got ahold of it! Those trolls hit me hard! I went from 2000 views to 37,000 or something in about 2 weeks! I had to turn the other cheek & learn that negative attention is better than none.
In the midst of current chaos, confusion & angst in America (& consequently all around the world) I had to give proper thought to the concept that "silence is consent". I decided that I have a voice, a platform & a BIG LOVE for my country, so I can't stay quiet anymore. I took part in two 50 states rallies in Portland (ME) on April 5th & April 19th. I spent 4 hours making my protest sign… here is a photo snapped at Monument Square on April 5th:
"Hands Off" Rally, Portland ME - 4/5/25

The flip side of my sign says "I LOVE DEMOCRACY". It depends on who you ask, but most are saying we had about 4000 people in the streets that day. It was empowering & hopeful. As John Lewis would say, we were making good trouble. The April 19th "No Kings" rally drew almost as many people. Meanwhile, I was pulled to revise a song I wrote 2 years ago to make it more in tune with current events. I got some good friends together to help me create a video & we posted it on YouTube on April 17th. So far, I've had lots of views, lots of shares & many supportive comments. No trolls yet. I sent a link to the video to everyone on this mailing list on April 19th, but I'm hearing some of the e-mails went to spam. (Not sure why that happened, but you might put anni@anniclark.com in your e-mail contact list if it's not already there.) Here’s the link again:
As the song suggests, we all need to take good care of our souls when things get tough… otherwise, we can't be the change we want to see in the world (Gandhi). Here are some things I've been doing to take care of my soul in between rallies & making videos this April:
Old Orchard Beach ME - 4/21/25
Daffodils in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco ME - 4/25/25
I urge each of you to do whatever it takes to stay grounded & healthy. Please remember that music is medicine! I hope to see many of you out & about… maybe at Lenny's, Sawyer Memorial, Cadenza or the Portland Harbor Hotel… or maybe on a trail through the woods, on the beach or at the grocery store. Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings… your support means more to me than you can know.
Peace,
