NEW YEAR / NEW VIDEO, JANUARY 2026!

HOWDY Y'ALL & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Can't believe we've turned the corner into 2026! I have zero public shows in January, but we can celebrate the new year on FEBRUARY 7th @ CADENZA in FREEPORT, when I take the stage on their opening weekend after taking January off from offering their eclectic mix of concerts. The following month, I have shows in 2 other fave venues of mine: FRIDAY, MARCH 6th @ ELEMENTS in BIDDEFORD, then on MARCH 12th @ LENNY'S in WESTBROOK. Lenny's will be reopening that month after having taken TWO months off from offering fun, food & music.

Details, Links & Musings are listed below in this order:

1. TARGET GIGS (Full Details)

SATURDAY / FEBRUARY 7th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... (doors at 6:15!) Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience.... Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks... also, you can order food from Brickyard Hollow next door & they deliver it to Cadenza! Reservations are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open... staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other... so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! The ticket link is not LIVE yet, as the Cadenza staff took some much deserved time off over the holidays & into the new year. We will send another message with the LIVE ticket link as soon as we get it! The livestream Link is here. Donations during the stream (or anytime!) are always greatly appreciated at:

FRIDAY / MARCH 6th / ELEMENTS / BIDDEFORD ME / 6:00 to 7:30PM / 207-710-2011... LOVE this room... a very intimate concert scene. It's a laid back & comfy space... with beer, wine, coffee, yummy baked goods, small plates, LOTS of books & friendly patrons. In lieu of a cover charge, a donations jar is placed near the stage by the Elements staff & there is a VENMO option as well if you have no cash. Bring your appetites & bring your friends... they'll be impressed you know about this cool spot. Always good to get here early... seating is limited.

THURSDAY / MARCH 12th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... We always have a blast here... The food is awesome & affordable, the staff is wicked fun & really good at what they do... & the list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! And THANKS for remembering the suggested donation for music is $10 pp in "Phil" the tip basket ("Phil" is short for "fill it up please!") Lenny's will be closed in January & February, so I am part of their grand reopening month!

SUNDAY / APRIL 12th / UNITED PARISH CONCERT SERIES / HARRISON ME / 3PM / 207-583-4840... I am totally psyched for my debut at this well-known concert series in beautiful downtown Harrison ME. Not far from one of my other fave concert venues, The Deertrees Theater (where I recorded my LIVE album in 2004), this Congregational Church on Main has hosted past performers such as Erica Brown (of Darlin' Corey), Jud Caswell, Bruce Marshall, Cindy Kallet & so many more. It was Cindy Kallet, a well-loved longtime Maine performer & songwriter, who recommended me to Nancy Chapman with "high praise" as a possible future performer. BIG thanks to Cindy for connecting me to Nancy! I'll play 2 sets of music starting at 3PM, with a break for refreshments & time to mingle between sets. I hear the acoustics here are just fabulous. Tickets are already selling via this eventbrite link. Let's celebrate the coming of spring together with songs & camaraderie in this very special spot!

2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS

On December 25th we were blessed with a White Christmas in southern Maine. My sister Betsey & I did a one-hour snowshoe trek in Freeport... "over the hills & through the woods to her son's house we did go." The walk was magical & mystifying:

As lovely as Christmas Day was, I'd be lying if I said the last 3 ½ months of 2025 weren't a challenge. The phrase "the only constant in life is change" is widely attributed to the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus. While the exact phrasing might be a contemporary summary of his ideas, the core concept that change is central to the universe comes from him, influencing thinkers like Plato and Aristotle centuries later. What he actually said was "You cannot step twice into the same river".

The river analogy touches my soul in a many ways. Back in 2001, within the first year of my long-time relationship with Eric Price, I wrote the song "The River in Your Heart" for his birthday present. It is still one of my favorite songs to play & sing, even though we parted ways in September, about 2 weeks shy of our 25th Anniversary. One week after our break-up the song "River Bend" poured out of me, in a way not unlike churning, turbulent water. We had had the driest August & September of any year I can remember... then the rains came, while I was writing "River Bend". It's unfortunate the time had come to write a sad sequel to one of my fave tunes, but life & rivers take unexpected turns. You may have noticed a link to my newest video at the start of this blog. If not, here is that link again: "River Bend". Thanks go to Mark Abraham, the sound engineer & Derek Brown, the media manager at Cadenza in Freeport. They were able to tweak the audio, the syncing & edit out this one song, captured via livestream during my performance there on Oct 18th, about a month after Eric & I split up. I got my brave on to try to sing this LIVE so soon after I wrote it; but I was hoping it would be healing to share it, so I did. It was the beginning of a healing process that will take time. I am blessed to have music to turn to any time, but especially in times such as this.

Now, with Christmas behind & a brand new year ahead, I am thankful for a clean slate to write upon. The light stays slightly longer with each day as I contemplate fresh adventures & new ideas. Although we may not be able to step twice into the same river, I am very sure we can learn from each unexpected turn. I look forward to the view around the bend.

Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings... your support means more to me than you can know. See you at the show... I'll be the one with the guitar & the smile on.

Peace,

Steven L'Heureux
