1. TARGET GIGS (Full Details)

SATURDAY / OCTOBER 18th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... (doors at 6:15!) Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience.... Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks... also, you can order food from Brickyard Hollow next door & they deliver it to Cadenza! Reservations are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open... staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other... so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! The ticket link is right here. The livestream Link is here. Donations during the stream (or anytime!) are always greatly appreciated at:

Pay Pal: PayPal.Me/anniclarkmaine or

Venmo: @Anni-Clark

THURSDAY / NOVEMBER 13th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... We always have a blast here... The food is awesome & affordable, the staff is wicked fun & really good at what they do... & the list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! And THANKS for remembering the suggested donation for music is $10 pp in "Phil" the tip basket ("Phil" is short for "fill it up please!") Future date @ Lenny's:  Dec 4.

2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS

September always goes too fast. Because it's my fave season, I tried extra hard to live each moment fully & to spend as much time outside as possible. The weather here in New England allowed me a lot of outdoor time, even as we all prayed for rain. August & September brought us very little of that; though we did get a few days of rain toward the end of the month, much to our relief. We need more. I am hoping the vibrant colors of fall still come through for us here; but many trees are sporting rusty dried-up leaves that are sadly just falling to the ground without a chance to shine.

I think I've made mention that 2025 is the 50th Anniversary of my through hike from ME to GA on the Appalachian Trail. I've been reading the journals that I kept during those 5 months of walking so I can relive where I was, what I was thinking, feeling & seeing 50 years ago. My boyfriend David & I hiked the second half of the trail with 3 others, making us a group of 5 from Harpers Ferry W VA to Springer Mtn GA. It was very unusual for a group of 5 to stick together on the trail, but we stuck like glue & supported one another through times both fabulous & stressful.

I was able to reconnect with one of those AT friends in early September in the Berkshires of MA to do some hiking. It was our first time hiking together in 50 years! We chose to hike to the summit of Mt Greylock, the highest point in MA, because when each of us had climbed over that mountain 50 years ago, we had not seen a thing from the top due to really bad weather. Roan has hiked up there since then, but I still had yet to see the view from that summit. Here I am with Roan Katahdin (her chosen name after doing the AT) feeling lucky to be able to do this together after all this time:

I climbed the many steep spiraling stairs to the top of the War Memorial Tower there to grab this shot:

Not long after my return from MA, I had 2 soulful gigs, first at Lenny's in Westbrook & then at Elements in Biddeford. Both shows were made more sweet with good friends & new enthusiastic faces in the house both nights. At the end of each show, both the familiar & the new friends together felt like family. I pinch myself that I get to do this for a living in between such amazing adventures in the outdoors!

My next journey was up to Sugarloaf Mtn in Carrabassett Valley, ME for another 50th Anniversary! The off campus friends I made during my college years at University of ME in Orono have managed to come together every 5 years for a celebratory event called the "Park Street People's Prom." (Many of us lived in huge mostly rundown old homes along Park St while at school; although David & I lived around the corner on Main in a duplex with some wild & crazy buddies.) The Park St people & the Main St people had competitive football games more than once in rain, mud & snow in a field along Park St. When we graduated, we all gathered there for the first ever "Park St People's Prom" & we've been doing that every 5 years since 1975! Here's a picture of those who made it to our 50th Anniversary bash:

We all had an absolute blast despite the fact that the long-awaited rain arrived while we were there, so all hikes & most of the outdoor plans had to be recreated. We're a pretty resilient bunch, so all was well & we danced our butts off, of course, at the Prom... I even sang a song with the band!

Now here comes October... more outdoor adventures await me as I contemplate a trip to the White Mtns in NH for a few days to hike some of my faves during this lovely season. When I get back, I'll be prepping tunes for my return to Cadenza in Freeport on October 18th... I may even unveil a new Anni tune that night... fingers crossed I get it down by then.

Wherever you are this October, I hope you remember that music & the outdoors are good medicine! I hope to see many of you... at a show, on a trail through the woods, on top of a mountain, on the beach, out dancin' to good tunes or maybe at the grocery store. Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings... your support means more to me than you can know.

Peace,

Steven L'Heureux
