SATURDAY / OCTOBER 17th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... (doors at 6:15!) Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience... Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks. (Please note: Brickyard Hollow no longer delivers food to Cadenza.) Ticket pre-sales are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open... staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other... so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! The ticket link is right here. The livestream Link is here. Donations during the stream (or anytime!) are always greatly appreciated at:
Pay Pal:PayPal.Me/anniclarkmaine or
Venmo: @Anni-Clark
THURSDAY / NOVEMBER 12th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... We always have a blast here... The food is awesome & the staff & all patrons are wicked fun! The list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! And THANKS for remembering the suggested donation for music is $10 pp in "Phil" the tip basket ("Phil" is short for "fill it up please!")
MONDAY / DECEMBER 21st / FOOTLIGHTS THEATER / FALMOUTH ME / 7PM / 207-747-5434... this will be a very special night... a Winter Solstice Celebration & Candlelight Concert with special guest Eliza Ruth Watson! Eliza had an amazing run of shows at Footlights Theater recently. She absolutely nailed her theatrical portrayal of Mama Cass Elliot (of The Mamas & the Papas.) When I caught one of her shows in July, I was blown away by her voice, her passion & her choice of songs to bring into this production celebrating Cass Elliot's life, her music, her strength & her legacy. Eliza & I decided we'd like to do something together & so now... we will! I want to thank Michael Tobin, the Footlights Theater director, actor, playwright, songsmith, publicist... (you name it, he does it!) for believing in this show & for helping us to get the word out. Seats are limited & selling well already, so reservations are strongly encouraged by calling the theater number listed above. All seats are $25, doors open at 6:30... & y'all can stay after the show for hot cocoa, Christmas treats & an opportunity to hang out with Michael, Eliza & myself to celebrate Christmas & the Winter Solstice! Check out this fun promo Michael created for the show:
2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS
I can't believe how quickly September came & went. Looking back, I guess I can see why it zipped right by... I was busy every single day! I did 12 Senior Living Shows, drove to too many appointments, caught performances at Hill Arts in Portland, at The School Street Coffeehouse in Saco & at Tucker & Tucker Audio in Scarborough... PLUS I checked off 3 or 4 tasks on my honey-do list at my condo... (this required lots of helpful friends in & out!) I took time out to hook up with pals a few times for a meal & some much needed laughter AND I got on my bike & beach walked a few times... phew! September flew!
I also enjoyed two fabulous public performances... I played a gig at Lenny's on 9/10 (I always have fab gigs there!) & then, the next morning, I got up early to drive the long trek north to Millinocket to take part in The Trail's End Festival. On the drive north I listened to public radio programs that were revisiting the 25th Anniversary of the horrific events on 9/11. I was pretty rattled by the time I pulled into town. Thankfully, some time outdoors at the Fest listening to music & speaking with the crafters, the Fest organizers & a lot of locals on a warm & lovely day at Veterans Park got me back to a less rattled demeanor. I even got to hang out with a solo hiker & a group of 3 who had finished their trek from GA to ME the day I arrived in town. THAT was fun, swapping stories. My stories are somewhat different from theirs, as I through hiked the trail 51 years ago... & yet, the feelings we shared about our respective journeys were very much the same. The next day I played a set of tunes at the park & sang "America the Beautiful" as my finale, dedicating it to the first responders, the firemen, the lives lost & the lives saved but forever changed on 9/11. The hair stood up on my arms as everybody in the park stood still, many with hands over their hearts... & they sang with me. WOW! A moment to remember always.
The end of September brought New England some much needed rain... areas south of me got way too much & are in trouble. My heart goes out to them. On the southern coast of Maine, the nor'easter came in more gently than expected & we are thankful for that. As I write, the rain is still falling for a 4th day & sun may revisit us again tomorrow. The grounds look a lot more happy now & the color in the trees is shaping up to show off big time very soon. I was fearful that the leaves would disappear in the high winds & power would be in & out. Not here. Phew.
I head for the White Mountains of NH in a few days for a week of hiking & leaf peeping... should be prime time for that! No pictures to share in this blog, but pretty sure I'll have some great shots for the next edition! On my return from NH, I'll play a show at Cadenza in Freeport on Saturday, October 17th... I told Alan, the owner, that I'd be on fire from my time in the Whites. He said he'll be ready with an extinguisher!
As October unfolds, I will continue to enjoy my bike rides & my beach walks, even as I tuck the home in for the approaching months of colder weather. I hope to see you at the Cadenza show... & maybe I'll see you on the trail or at the beach. Thanks much for your support now & over the years... this means more to me than y'all can ever know.
Peace,
