HOWDY Y'ALL! Here it comes... suddenly September! As summer fades, my fave season is waiting in the wings. TWO fab shows in September: THURS, SEPT 10th @ LENNY'S in WESTBROOK followed by my 1st appearance at the TRAILS END FESTIVAL in MILLINOCKET on SAT, SEPT 12th! Also, tickets are already selling for my show on SAT, Oct 17th at CADENZA in FREEPORT! A lovely list of gigs to look forward to.

THURSDAY / SEPTEMBER 10th / LENNY'S / WESTBROOK ME / 6:30 to 9PM / 207-591-0177... We always have a blast here... The food is awesome & the staff & all patrons are wicked fun! The list of artists performing here is topnotch. I am honored to be on that list, playing every other month. I hope you'll join us for the fun, the food, the music & the camaraderie! SATURDAY / SEPTEMBER 12th / TRAILS END FESTIVAL / MILLINOCKET ME / 1:20 to 2:40 / 207-447-4091... You know, I get psyched for every show, but this one is already making my blood pump! This festival is lovingly put together by the folks at the Rec Dept in Millinocket to celebrate the Appalachian Trail, its history & to honor the hikers that cruise through here at this time of year, many of them having walked from GA to ME for a very long time to reach their destination's end at nearby Mt Katahdin. Myself, I walked ME to GA in 1975! To be a musical part of this weekend of events 51 years after I completed my thru hike is an absolute honor. The concert will be outdoors in Veterans Park. (Yes, there is a Plan B in case of rain!) I can't wait to meet all the hikers in town & to hang out with the locals who love to celebrate with them & are so proud of the beauty that draws so many to this area.
SATURDAY / OCTOBER 17th / CADENZA / FREEPORT ME / 7PM / 207-560-5300... (doors at 6:15!) Cadenza has become one of the best listening rooms around. Being part of the LIVE audience here is an intimate & lovely experience.... Plus, they have beer, wine, coffee & other beverages & snacks... also, you can order food from Brickyard Hollow next door & they deliver it to Cadenza! (In June, this service had been temporarily discontinued, but I think it's back on track now.) Reservations are strongly encouraged. A word of caution: please don't wait until the last minute, hoping to buy tickets at the door, as the doors may not open... staff needs to be paid before performers & there have been times when low presales dictated that the owners had to cancel or reschedule shows. This hasn't happened to me yet & I hope it never does. This is one of my fave rooms to play, unlike any other... so thanks in advance for reserving your seats ahead of showtime! MONDAY / DECEMBER 21st / FOOTLIGHTS THEATER / FALMOUTH ME / 7PM / 207-747-5434... this will be a very special night... a Winter Solstice Celebration & Candlelight Concert with special guest Eliza Ruth Watson! Eliza had an amazing run of shows at Footlights Theater recently. She absolutely nailed her theatrical portrayal of Mama Cass Elliot (of The Mamas & the Papas.) When I caught one of her shows in July, I was blown away by her voice, her passion & her choice of songs to bring into this production celebrating Cass Elliot's life, her music, her strength & her legacy. Eliza & I decided we'd like to do something together & so now... we will! I want to thank Michael Tobin, the Footlights Theater director, actor, playwright, songsmith, publicist... (you name it, he does it!) for believing in this show & for helping us to get the word out. Seats are limited & selling well already, so reservations are strongly encouraged by calling the theater number listed above. All seats are $25, doors open at 6:30... & y'all can stay after the show for hot cocoa, Christmas treats & an opportunity to hang out with Michael, Eliza & myself to celebrate Christmas & the Winter Solstice! 2. CURRENT CEREBRAL WANDERINGS
August was a busy month for me! Lots of road trips, a lot of music, good weather & plenty of fun... just as it should be in Maine in the summahtime! I performed at a dozen senior centers & one Veterans Home, I spent some quality time with friends in Sumner & in Rangeley, I drove to Millinocket to play my debut at The Boreal Theater, I shared a gig with Denny Breau at Schooner Landing in Damariscotta... AND I had the opportunity to sit in with a whole bunch of fine folks in a myriad of seaside venues! I sang a few tunes with The Slygo Road Band in Old Orchard Beach, I played with a really fun bunch of guys at Mendicini in Newcastle, I sat in with Denny Breau & Paul Mellyn at Muscongus Bay Lobster in Bristol, and then Paul came to sit in with Denny & me at Schooner Landing in Damariscotta! I have some fun pics to share...

I find it funny to look back through these photos to see I wore the same outfit in OOB as I did in Damariscotta 3 weeks later. I promise I washed those clothes in between! Not long after I got home from 5 days in the mid-coast area, I witnessed the lunar eclipse in the wee hours of August 28th outside my condo here in OOB. A few of my neighbors caught this event with me & we agreed that for a while the eclipsed moon looked like a big olive in the sky, the pimento part aglow at the top... it made me wonder if maybe Martians are fond of big martinis. HA! That's my mind in the middle of the night having been asleep for maybe 2 hours before I donned my bathrobe to venture outside to check it out.
As I write, I contemplate the fact that once again this year we are in need of rain here. If only water from all the flooding elsewhere in this country & the world could be shared with us... so many catastrophic events lately! Selfishly, I hope we are still blessed with some fall foliage & good hiking weather in September & October... but I'm getting ahead of myself.
As we turn the corner into September, I will continue to enjoy my bike rides, my beach walks & time with friends & family. I am especially looking forward to fall hikes in the mountains. All this & great gigs ahead, too! I hope to see many of you at some (or all?) of my shows... & maybe I'll see you on the trail or at the beach. Thanks much for your support now & over the years... this means more to me than y'all can ever know.
